Undergraduate research experiences significantly impact student success and readiness in STEM. However, community colleges have limited opportunities for authentic research. We discuss the implementation of CURE at Hudson Valley Community College. This course allows students to participate in real scientific discovery through the SEA Phages Genomics program. Students who successfully participate in this course contribute to a national database of bacteriophage biology, learn bioinformatics tools, collaborate with peers to write a manuscript for publication in a peer reviewed journal and present at an international poster session. This presentation will share the motivation behind developing the course, its design, and implementation.
