Microbiology is foundational to nursing education, yet many students approach it with a “learn it now, forget it later” mindset, limiting long-term retention and transfer to clinical practice. This Microbrew introduces Looking Forward to Nursing, a classroom framework that explicitly connects weekly microbiology concepts to authentic nursing practice throughout the course. Instead of presenting clinical relevance as isolated examples, the framework integrates nursing applications throughout the traditional microbiology sequence, including microbial diversity, host defenses, and infectious diseases. This continuous connection promotes meaningful, context-driven learning. Designed for instructors teaching microbiology to nursing and other allied health students, the approach is easily adaptable to diverse institutional settings. Participants will leave with a practical framework, implementation strategies, and examples they can immediately incorporate into their own courses to increase student motivation, strengthen professional identity, and foster durable learning that better prepares future healthcare professionals.
