Despite its relevance for the advancement of science, the incorporation of effective science communication (SciComm) strategies into undergraduate courses remains limited. Expectations for SciComm in laboratory and Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) are also not well defined. This workshop will introduce attendees to evidence supporting the integration of formal SciComm training into STEM courses. We will share examples of SciComm curricula focused on effective, evidence-based strategies that support the development of students’ skills, mindsets, and behaviors in SciComm. Attendees will also create a plan for integrating evidence-based SciComm into their didactic, laboratory, or CURE curriculum.
